The Benz Spider was a passenger car built by the German automotive firm Benz & Cie from 1900 to 1901. Its full-fledged, four-seat version was often sold under the name Benz Tonneau, which would later become the name of a separate Benz model that was manufactured the following year.
The car was fitted with a front-mounted 2690cc two-cylinder boxer engine capable of generating 10 bhp (7.4 kW) of output. The vehicle had wooden spoke wheels with pneumatic tires. It was equipped with a four-speed countershaft transmission with reverse gear, which was connected to the rear wheels via a system of chains. The Spider could reach speeds up to 40 to 45 km/h.
Prices for the car started at approximately 8500 goldmark.
