The car was only fitted with four-stroke two-cylinder boxer engines known as Benz Contra motors. The following engine variants were offered:

Capacity Bore × stroke Performance rpm
1710cc 100 mm × 110 mm 9 hp (6.6 kW) 920 rpm
2690cc 120 mm × 120 mm 12 hp (8.8 kW) 980 rpm

The car had wooden spoke wheels with pneumatic tires. It was equipped with a four-speed countershaft transmission with reverse gear, which was connected to the rear wheels via a system of chains. The Tonneau could reach speeds up to 50 to 60 km/h, depending on the engine.

During production, the Tonneau's price range was between 7520 and 15,200 goldmark.
