The Brabham BT26 was the first Formula 1 car to have fins. At first, they were positionable but they were banned in 1969 and replaced by fixed fins.

The chassis was of a semi-monocoque design. The engine was a 2995 cm³ Ford Cosworth engine. A five-speed Hewland DG 300 gearbox was fitted.

The car was entered in 12 races, starting in pole position in 2 of those.
