The Buckler DD1 was a kit car that was produced between 1956 and 1962.
The DD1 was fitted with the 1098cc Coventry Climax FWA engine that was fitted with 2 SU carburettors. This engine is a straight four unit with 2 valved per cylinder that produced 83 bhp. Due to the engines performance and the light weight og the car, the DD1 had a top speed of 193 km/h (120 mph). An option on the car was de-Dion rear suspension. The power from the engine was transmitted through a four-speed gearbox to the rear wheels.
The DD1 was fitted with a Microplas Mistral body. This was a 2-door, 2-seater sports body that was extremely aerodynamic.
The DD1 had a successful racing career during 12 races at Silverstone (5 times), Goodwood (3 time ), Brands Hatch (2 times) and Ardmore (2 times). The drivers were W. A. Liddell, Jim Boyd and Ivy Stephenson. The DD1 had six finished in a podium position.
