The Dodge Avenger was exclusive to South Africa and produced between 1970 and 1981.
The Avenger was a rebadged Hillman Avenger that used a Peugeot 1.6L engine in order to satisfy local rules. The Avenger was available from 1970 until its discontinuation in 1981. There was no known direct successor. Because it was exclusive to South Africa, this generation of the Avenger never reached North America or Europe, and, in its place, the Chrysler Avenger was sold. This generation differs greatly from the later Avengers and is commonly forgotten about.
