The N177 is a racecar which was constructed and entered by Ensign in the 1977, 1978 and 1979 seasons of F1. It was driven by Clay Regazzoni, Jacky Ickx, Patrick Tambay, Danny Ongais, Lamberto Leoni, Derek Daly, Geoff Lees, Nelson Piquet, Harald Ertl and Brett Lunger.
The car had a 3000cc Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine and a
Hewland FGA 400 six-speed manual gearbox. The car had an aluminium monocoque chassis and drove on Goodyear tyres.
The car debuted at the 1977 Argentina GP where it finished 6th and entered it's last race at the 1979 Belgium GP but it did not qualify. The car was plagued with mechanical issues such as brake, engine and transmission failure throughout its career.
