The N179 is a racecar which was constructed and entered by Ensign in the 1979 season of F1. It was driven by Derek Daly, Marc Surer and Patrick Gaillard.
The car had a 3000cc Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine and a Hewland FGA 400 five-speed manual geabox. The car, like it's predecessors, had an aluminium monocoque chassis and rode on Goodyear tyres.
The car debuted at the 1979 South Africa GP where it did not qualify and entered it's last race at the 1979 USA East GP where it did not finish due to engine failure. The car was not successful, it only qualified for 4 out of the 11 races it was entered in and it only finished one, the British GP where it came 13th.
