The Fairthorpe TX1 was a kit car produced between 1965 and 1966.

Although the car was offered for sale as the TX 1, it was pretty much a prototype for what was to become the TX GT. The price at the time for the kit was £1,175 before purchase tax.

Being designed by Torix Bennett, the car incorporated a patented rear suspension using transverse rods and trailing links. Based around a Triumph GT6 chassis, the TX 1 used either Triumph or Ford Cortina GT power.

A high quality finish for it's day the TX range got good press. Bodywork was fibreglass and finish and build quality was said to be good. The TX 1 was short lived and was later superseded by the TX GT, TX S and TX SS.
