Merak

Maserati Merak

The Maserati Merak was an Italian sports car produced by Italian car manufacturer, Maserati. It was in production from 1972 to 1982.

Overview[]

The Merak is basically a junior version of the Maserati Bora. It runs on a quad-cam, V6 motor, unlike the Bora's larger V8. This resulted in a lower cost, plus room for a small back seat and better handling (because of the lower weight and a better front/rear weight distribution).

Overall, the Merak differed from the Bora (even though both were very similar), mainly in sporting open flying buttresses, instead of the Bora's fully glassed rear.

Sales[]

Today, the Merak is not as popular and has less value then V8 Bora. The Merak's price is about half of the Bora's. Some of this is due to the smaller V6 engine of the Merak. But the Merak is more common then the Bora. About 1,900 Meraks were produced from 1972-1982.
