Ashley 1172 Roadster 2007

Ashley 1172 - 738KTE in 2007

The Ashley 1172 was a kit car produced by Ashley Laminates between 1958 and 1962.

The car was Ashley Laminates' first real attempt at producing a kit car (although their very first was the 750). The kit produced a good looking car in its day and it is one that has stood the test of time.

The GRP bodywork was designed to fit all Ford chassis that were of 7'6". This included all E83W upright Fords. The 1172 was available as a soft top, removable hard top version and also a fixed coupe.

The Ashley 1172 used the Ford 1172cc side-valve engine for its power plant. This is how the Ashley 1172 got its name.

There are still quite a number of these Ashleys existing and registered for road use, and the stories of some of these can be found at this website.
