1898 Daimler Wagonette
The Daimler Wagonette is a veteran automobile built by the British automaker Daimler between 1898 and 1899.
It is fitted with a two-cylinder engine rated at 6.5 hp and can reach speeds up to 11.6 mph. Four passengers could typically be transported on this vehicle. The engine did not contain spark plugs, but instead featured 'Hot Tube' ignition to ignite the petrol.
The car does not have an accelerator but instead the engine runs at a constant rev which is controlled by a govenor. The power is transferred through a sliding pinion gearbox, driving the rear wheels. This gave the car four forward gears and four reverse gears.
The price of a car when new was £335.
