The Lotus 44 was a Formula 2 racing car built by the British Motor Sport Team, Lotus.
The Lotus 44 was created in 1966 and based on the Lotus 35 from 1965. The car got it's general suspension design from the Lotus 41, which in the same year was successfully used in Formula 3. The vehicles were equipped with Cosworth engines but the units from Honda that Brabham used were clearly inferior.
The Ron Harris team used three 44s in 1966 but these were only partially successful. A victory was not possible and in 1967, Lotus released a new car the Lotus 48.
