MG ADO34

The ADO34 was a prototype car built by MG in 1966.

It was designed as a possible replacement for the MG Midget and Austin-Healey Sprite.

The project was aimed to develop a Mini-based roadster using a Mini sub frames and Cooper S engine.

It was fitted with a Mini Cooper S engine and wheels. The chassis was then sent out to Italy, where Pininfarina designed and built the body in a style similar to the Peugeot 204 Cabriolet.

The car had front wheel drive and it wasn't until 30 years later that the Lotus Elan became the first production front-wheel-drive sports car.

Regrettably the car was never put into production.

The MG ADO34 (Longbridge Version) is now on show at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon.
