History and Profile[]
In 1930, at the height of the depression Maybach-Motorenbau introduced range which composed of the prestigious and highly exclusive DS7 and DS8. However, the German manufacturer decided to offer a less expensive model.
The had the same 6995 cm³ 6 cylinder engine of the W5 and the Zepplin chassis. The engine was fitted with a double-body carburettor, the engine also featured side valves, twin camshafts and a power output of 120hp at 2800rpm. The 3-speed automatic transmission was derived directly from the one fitted on W5. The top speed was 130 km/h.
The W6 was not successful as people chose to buy the Zepplin models instead.
W6 DSG[]
In 1934, the W6 was replaced by the W6 DSG. It had a 3-speed semi-automatic transmission. Performance remained unchanged.
In total only a hundred W6 cars were produced.
