The Merzario A2 was designed by Giorgio Valentini and raced in the 1978 season of Formula One.
The car made its first appearance at the 1979 Spanish Grand Prix where it was driven by Artuno Merzario. The car failed to qualify for this race, as it did for the other three races it was entered in. For the 1979 Monaco Grand Prix, Gianfranco Brancatelli drove the car for Team Merzario.
The car was fitted with a Cosworth DFV V8 engine and rode on Goodyear tyres. The car had an aluminium monocoque chassis, weighed 591 kg and was fitted with a Hewland FGA 400 gearbox.
The car was not successful in its racing career.
