The Reeves OctoAuto was a prototype 1911 model car that was scheduled for production but never was produced. The meaning OctoAuto is literal because the cars had 8 wheels. The reason for this was because the inventor: Reeves, thought that more wheels would equal a smoother ride. He premiered the OctoAuto at the first Indianappolis 500 to get people to sign up to buy an OctoAuto after they were produced. No one believed his theory and no one signed up to order his car causing the car to never be produced and the single prototype was destroyed.

Interestingly enough Reeves invented the muffler the only historically significant thing he did in the automotive world.
