The Sbarro 540K is a replica of the legendary Mercedes-Benz 540K built between 1981 and 1985.

The Mercedes-Benz 540K was  constructed between 1936 and 1939 with 409 cars being made. The car represented the pinnacle of the automotive industry at this time. Only Bugatti could compete and today this car has become the dream of every car collector.

Franco Sbarro created a replica of this great car in 1981. The quality of the production and construction is such that Daimler-Benz granted Sbarro permission to use the official Mercedes star. It is a rare privilege, that's saying a lot about the quality of the car.

If there were not the Sbarro logo on the centre of the steering wheel, few people would be able to tell the difference with the original and the replica. All on-board instruments have been reconstituted by specialists by precision engineering. Attention to detail led Sbarro to search for the original tools to manufacture the lights.

Of course, the mechanics are modern. To remain faithful to the brand and maintain a certain authenticity, the engine comes from a Mercedes 500 SE. It is a V8 developing 240 horsepower. The chassis incorporates elements from a 300 SEL 6.3. The body is made of plastic, the hood is electric.

Top top speed of the car is 220 km/h, or 40 km/h more than the original. To stop the car, four disc brakes were fitted. The transmission is automatic but to respect the spirit of the original 540K, the gear lever is a faithful copy of the original.

Eight Sbarro 540Ks were built from 1981 to 1985.
