The 12/40 Sports was a car made by Star between 1925 and 1928.
The engine fitted was a 1945cc four cylinder unit. It had overhead camshafts and pushrods. The engine was connected to a four speed gearbox via a single plate clutch. The engine produced 54bhp and with the gearbox and drive gears the car was able to reach speeds of 75mph (121kmh).
The chassis is 9ft 4in long and had semi-elliptical leaf springs all round. Brakes were fitted on all four wheels as standard.
The standard bodywork included a boat-tail two seater which was produced in-house.
Both works cars and private cars entered sporting events and they did have some success.
The car cost £550 in 1925 and £410 in 1928.
