The Clipper was a car made by Trident between 1967 and 1977.
The first Coupe was shown at the Olympia Racing Car Show in 1967.
The Clipper Coupe was originally built on a TVR Grantura Mark III chassis, but this was later switched to an Austin-Healey 3000 chassis after a TVR dealer took over the project due to the serious financial problems at TVR itself.
The chassis was widened and the suspension was modified to handle the V8 and the fiberglass body.
Only 29 Trident Clipper Coupes with the Ford 289 V8 were ever produced and another hundred with the 3 litre Ford V6. Only a few cars were built with the fiberglass body and only the first six were equipped with the clamshell bonnet.
