The UVA Fugitive was a kit car produced in the 1980s.

It was an import from America recreated in Britain by UVA. It was based around the sand rail buggy concept the Fugitive could be used as an off roader or just a whacky buggy style piece of transportation.

Minimalist is the order of the day, based around a rugged chassis with few GRP panels, no interior comforts just the basics to get by.

The car was based on Volkswagen Beetle running gear and engine, the Fugitive had a good turn of speed for a light weight car. Various other engine combinations were tried out back including Alfa boxer, and even Rover V8. UVA stopped trading around 1991.
